The Alphabet Girls - Beatnik Europa
Assuming they set out to accomplish the epitome of a stereotype, the girls have without a doubt succeeded in "Beatnik Europa." Both suitably retro and topically trendy (think electroclash), The Alphabet Girls provide a simple, carefree and short-form distraction from the complexities of modern times.

Necrotek - Satanik EP
Nekrotek seems to be trying to combine a love of horror and the supernatural, with that of Industrial in order to create an evil dark EBM sound. This is an excellent compilation which should be checked by anyone interested in good music and is almost a mandatory purchase for apreciators of electronica. Covering most forms of electronica, with some interesting surprises this is certainly one of the best compilations of the year.

Laurent Perrier - Downfall/Disperse
Both "Downfall" and "Disperse" have some gorgeous layering of really  deep basses, repetitive structure (nor gitch, nor rhythm) and very  stereophonic sound effects. It's hard to pinpoint what it is exactly... the essence of this excellent release cannot be described by mere words.

the Gothsicles - NESferatu
"NESferatu" is a wild and funny ride of a debut album that wets the appetite for more releases by the Gothsicles. It is not without its flaws but it is still highly enjoyable, especially if one has a sense of humour, open mind and youthful spirit. Geekyness also helps.

Shadow Theater - Siona
All in all one can see why Shadow Theater released eight albums because it's some good stuff. But to belong to the top of the noise scene it is just not good enough. Power Electronics are based on a musical or verbal shock-effect or a message. And neither of those two could be found on "Siona"...

Rafael Flores - Nubes, Cometas, Rumores y Orugas
Capable of standing up to repeated plays, this could be quite an inaccessible collection of work for the newcomer to experimental ambience, and for the more experienced, it seems it would only really please those who are not so demanding for much to be happening in a short space of time.

Miguel A. Ruiz - Grosor
If you like your ambient music very dark, atmospheric and heavy, "Grosor" is definitely for you. It makes a harrowing and disturbing yet rewarding listening experience in its own right but could equally be the perfect soundtrack to the most nerve shreddingly tense movie ever made.

Altaï + Abraxas Projekt - Ouroboros
"Ouroboros" is an exploration of the crossroads between experimental electronic and freeform jazz music to produce a form of electro-jazz. Ranging from moody rhythmic electronics through to manic abstract jazz, "Ouroboros" is a heated battle between the 2 forms.

Deathboy - End of an Error
This album shows a new found maturity in Deathboy who seem to be a much more confident unit. The only let down here is the production, which makes the album too clean and far too safe sounding for a band who is supposed to be angsty, dark and gritty.

Tristraum - First Embrace
This maxi-single on the whole does have some very interesting ideas but at the same time is let down by some weaker remixes. It is worth buying purely for a few remixes, a couple of which have serious dancefloor potential.

IWR - Ground Zero
"Calling you to help me play my role", screeches IWR front man in a song imaginatively titled "Calling You", and it was this, the only line on this highly unpleasant debut album, which really said anything to me.

Ybrid - Khaos de Viscera
"Khaos De Viscera" has an amazing amount of depth to it as a whole. It doesn't seem to be your usual brand of hardcore, it has something more. Mixing classical, opera and noise in with the usual 4/4 beats certainly sets Ybrid apart from her peers.

Angina P - 8 Rooms
Energetic, without bordering on the too aggressive, "8 Rooms" is equally at home when listened on the go or while at home in a session of relaxing contemplation, with deeply emotional and complex sound. Truly a marvelous piece of work, it is a definite purchase for everyone interested in good music.

Rename - Energize
Following their debut "Culture" from two years ago, Rename had already set a pretty high standard for other bands in their genre. Where as the first album was an underground hit in its own right for many Synthpop listeners, "Energize" brings us the next stage of evolution for this ever progressing act.

Objekt 4 - Her Face Among The Shadows
This is a good album - no doubt about that - but the story behind the tracks could have been more strongly expressed. For now, "Her face among the shadows" is a CD with nice music, while it could have been a strong symbiosis between horror and romance.

Igor Krutogolov - Muzika Elektronika
Comparable to recent Whitehouse instrumentals and more interesting than Merzbow, if you are a fan of the Noise and Power Electronics genres of music and looking for something new with a distinct approach, Igor Krutogolov's "Musika Elektronika" is a good release to set your sights to.


Lith - Gaia
"Gaia" may appear to some as something of an uneven album, walking the 'grey area' between chill-out and harder sounds and, at times, gives the impression that Lith is still 'testing the waters'. It is well thought out as a concept album and has the technical quality one would expect from this artist.

Monica Schroeder - So Far
The album could have possibly done with a fair bit more electronic work and could definitely have done with more than just nine tracks but that aside, it is on the whole an immensely interesting and thoughtful addition to any music lover's collection.

Electric Press Kit - Analogic
Having far too much distortion on your guitar does not equal "noise" music, using a drum machine for your punk rock does not mean you are making industrial music and as for the dubious term "cold wave", I was led to believe that meant minimal electronics.
