Interviews

Justin Brink - Pneumatic Detach
Pneumatic Detach is the solo project of Massachusetts-based Justin Brink. Since his debut release in 2001, Pneumatic Detach has gained steady momentum and carved a name for himself as one of the most unique acts in the underground industrial/rhythmic noise scene.

Reviews

Gjöll - Way Through Zero
Periodically we find albums like Gjöll's "Way Through Zero" which, unlike 75% of the same old, recycled garbage out there that passes for industrial nowadays, album still manages to evoke emotion without reeking of cheesy manufactured angst for angst's sake.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_gjoll_wtz.htm

Ninth Desert - Different Trouble Experiences Of Twilight
"Different Trouble Experiences of Twilight" is a confident, well-structured journey, one that requires more than one listen to fully appreciate, and which rewards listeners with a rich, uncluttered soundscape in which to lose themselves.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_ninthdesert_dteot.htm

Maurizio Bianchi & Sparkle In Grey - Nefelodhis
An enjoyable listen that goes across vast sonic territory, sometimes sounding something akin to dreamy shoegaze music and at other times disturbing noises and bizarre sounds. Although it covers a lot of territory, it manages good transitions so it doesn't have the problem of jumping all over the place.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_mauriziobianchisparkleingrey_n.htm

V/A - D-Trash Records Music Videos
The diversity of featured artists means there's something for everyone on this release, and the added bonus of the Jukebox feature makes it a very well rounded retrospective of D-Trash's work to date. Looking forward to the next ten years!
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_dtrmv.htm

Somegirl - The Velvet Hour
Though when listening to "The Velvet Hour" one gets a justified sense of déjà entendu, it remains a solid release. Nevertheless, good as it may be, Somegirl would certainly benefit from being more daring both musically as well as lyrically: the talent and creativity are there, they just have to tap it.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_somegirl_tvh.htm

Kotra - Reset
If there was such a thing as 'avant-garde/experimental lounge music,' "Reset" could easily fit the description and purpose. In the meantime, "Reset" can feel like a work in progress, the aural version of the artist's notebook: it may be interesting but it's appeal is limited to a small audience and definitely an acquired taste.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_kotra_r.htm

Nerthus - Urban
Plodding percussion and glitched-out synth lines whir throughout and are the backbone of the composition. Apt for a restless sleep or in accompaniment to an evening of hallucinogenic introspection, "Urban" will undoubtedly stir your thoughts.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nerthus_u.htm

Battery Cage - Forever Never Ends
All in all, "Forever Never Ends" is a musically diverse recording featuring some enjoyable moments, albeit its lack of focus and a scattering of influences will either enthrall or irk the listener, depending on who is wearing the headphones.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_batterycage_fne.htm

History Of Guns - Acedia
Overall, "Acedia" sounds almost exactly like what one might have imagined, back in the day, punk rock should be in the twenty-first century. Too bad, most punk rockers never looked beyond their narrow alleys, which History of Guns have clearly done. Maybe because they're not exactly punk rockers.

Connexion Bizarre update 20080901 « Réponse #31 le: septembre 01, 2008, 23:37:35 pm »
After a short hiatus of nearly a month we're back with a massive update!
As mentioned in the previous mailing, Connexion Bizarre saw some changes with this new mailing. Firstly is a slight redesign to give more overall coherence to the website. Secondly, and most important, is the addition of two new sections, one of online releases and a webstore (which already existed but to which was given greater proeminence).

The new "Releases" section is, after a fashion the new 'netlabel' arm of Connexion Bizarre. Rather than developing a de facto netlabel, the idea behind this initiative is simply to expand our work of showcasing new music by collaborating with artists and other music enthusiasts in this endeavour. Currently under development are several compilations following the format set with "You Are Here: A Compilation Of Wisconsin Electronics" (curated by none other than Matt Fanale of Caustic), originally released in early 2007, for which artists were selected based on geographical location rather than music genres.

While not a new addition to the site, the "Store" section was moved to greater proeminence. In addition to time and effort, Connexion Bizarre has its expenses and any revenue from sales will help to offset these. In addition to what is already available (Connexion Bizarre badges), there are plans for a couple of weird additions (which we hope will prove interesting) planned for the near future.

Anyway, enough blabber and on to the list of updates for the rentrée...

Interviews

Dmytro Fedorenko - Kvitnu
Ukrainian label run by Dmytro Fedorenko (Kotra), started at the end of year 2006, with the aim to amplify the electronic experimental outputs from the land of Ukraine and to discover new musical variations from the outer world. Kvitnu concentrates on music and ideas with a high blood pressure in its sound-veins.

Reviews

Roughhausen - The Agony of the Beat
Occasionally, little wonders slip through the cracks and escape the notice of record labels. Roughhausen's "Agony of the Beat" is such a specimen - varied, dynamic, danceable and eminently listenable, all rolled into one, this release is truly a reviewer's joy.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_roughhausen_taotb.htm

Fluorescent Grey - Gaseous Opal Orbs
Unlike many bands sheltering under the 'experimental' tag, this guy rarely falls into comfortable predictability, and many of the tracks sound pretty far removed from your intial impressions by the end. The overall result is rather jolly, and reminds you that quirky avant-garde music can be fun, and needn't be listened to on Sennheisers in a darkened room.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_fluorescentgrey_goo.htm

Junkboy - Three
"Three" might well be called vapid or monotonous by impatient critics looking for something less hermitic and more conspicuous than idle, syrup-dipped compositions. However, it is precisely these jejune traits that lend Junkboy its special, engrossing character. When the mood is right, "Three" fits just fine.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_junkboy_t.htm

V/A - nucd#02
Numusic Records compiled "nucd#02" to showcase the varied styles of electronic music represented at their music festival.  Compiled from a range of international and Norwegian artists, especially those from the immediate Stavanger area of Norway where the label resides, the mix of genres represented is varied and contrasting, representing the diversity of the artists appearing at the event.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_nucd2.htm

Dissamonix - Disharmonic Universe
This German duo's sound covers a wide range, from lurching beats and swirly guitar to calm spasms and spaced-out ambience. Often off-kilter and detuned, but routinely interesting,  "Disharmonic Universe" stays true to its name as Dissamonix dispatches seven tracks of structured slow-motion mayhem, full of bass frequencies and tripped-out beats.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_dissamonix_du.htm

FT13 - The Great Disaster
A bit heavy on the angst, a bit light on sincerity. Focusing either on a harsher, more stripped-down minimalist sound or opting for depth and technicality, rather than vacillating between the two poles, would improve the end result no end.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_ft13_tgd.htm

Ebola - Mutant Dubstep Vol.1
Haemorrhagic reactions abound when listening to this four-track teaser EP that merely hints at what may yet be to come. Overall, excitement levels when confronted by this recording did not match the anticipated response - a breakcore/gabba/dubstep crossover works far better in theory than in practice...
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_ebola_mdv1.htm

Logoplasm - Testa Piena D'Orche
Logoplasm's realm of feedback and pink noise, voyeurism and mundanity, and comfort and fear challenges listeners to discover significance in the thirty-five minutes of "Testa Piena D'Orche" (meaning "head full of orcas") - a struggle that may well leave some wanting.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_logoplasm_tpdo.htm

Psycho Shop - My Sweet Holocaust
Although Psycho Shop have an impressive collective experience when it comes to making music, this does not translate that effectively when listening to "My Sweet Holocaust", their first studio album. Although the combination of ethereal female with harsh male vocals has been a successful formula for other darkwave/EBM acts in the past, it doesn't gel quite as well here.

Connexion Bizarre update 20080908 « Réponse #32 le: septembre 08, 2008, 19:08:17 pm »
Connexion Bizarre was updated on 2008-09-08 with new content. A couple of new reviews, an interview, new installment of the "Business Traveller" ongoing fiction series, new links and, last but not least, the release of the second volume of the "You Are Here" music compilation series.

Compiled by NY-based musician/DJ/promoter Ben Dewalt (better known for his alias Terrorfakt and DJ Hellraver), "You Are Here Vol.2: a Compilation of New York Electronics" features a selection of tracks by emerging and confirmed artists from the New York electronic music underground, in styles ranging from Experimental and Industrial to IDM, Power Electronics and Rhythmic Noise. Released under a Creative Commons license, this compilation follows from last year's compilation dedicated to the state of Wisconsin (still available from our releases section) and will soon be followed by others following the same concept. Currently in the works are compilations for the states of California, Illinois and Massachussetts, with other states and countries already being considered. Scroll down for more details and download links.

Interviews

Pål Asle Pettersen and Helge Olav Øksendal - Zang:
Managed by Pål Asle Pettersen and Helge Olav Øksendal (known for his solo music work as HOH), this Norwegian record label focuses on experimental electronic and electro-acoustic music and it is also the hub for several initiatives of performative experimental sound-art.

Reviews

Prospero - Folie à deux
Trying to pin down Prospero and slot him into a pigeonhole is pretty much downright impossible, and that's the beauty with this CD; the journey takes in better scenery and the ride is more comfortable and reassuring than before.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_prospero_fad.htm

Thelmo Cristovam - Paisagens Sonoras em Ostro Hyija
This complex, thoughtful effort is well worth checking out via the Triple Bath website. Personal, engrossing and utterly without pretension, it is a welcome change from the increasing number of mono-toned, featureless soundscapes.

Reviews

VortexSoundTech - Fiery Silence
Throughout the entire album, the listener is presented with introverse, rich, textured industrial soundscapes that mutate and narrow into upbeat electro melodies - only to be blown out into heavy, suppressing basslines, accompanied by atmospheric, minimalistic orchestral pieces that further evolve into dark, psychadelic, multilayered and slightly off-kilter synthlines.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_vortexsoundtech_fs.htm

Mangadrive - These.Blades.Will.Never.Rust
Unapologetic, hi-energy dance music, pure, simple and unadulterated by lofty ideals and messages. Mangadrive bangs out a blistering rhythmic tattoo into the unsuspecting skulls of its listeners, an aural shot of espresso that has the potential to kickstart any dancefloor. And that includes the mainstream.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_mangadrive_tbwnr.htm

Faux Pride - Slapstick Bitch
Despite a few ear-grabbing moments "Slapstick Bitch" is not a thrilling listen. While the artist seems quite at ease and competent at creating intense hardcore tracks, that clearly isn't the case when he tries his hand at creating material on a more experimental style; perhaps he should concentrate and develop what he does best before moving on to territory where he is clearly less at ease.

Interviews

Aleksey Chechulin - Cold Graey
Cold Graey is one of those cases which proves that talent and creativity are not the exclusive of established record labels, thriving equally well in a do-it-yourself setting. With a roster of very talented artists, this obscure Russian label is worthy of note for the the care which they put into their extremely limited editions, as each superbly handcrafted release is a work of art on its own.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_coldgraey.htm

Reviews

Renfro - Mathematics
Renfro's music in "Mathematics" must be appreciated like a fine wine: with time and without worries. As well as a great soundtrack for moments of solitude it is also something to be enjoyed in the company of a special someone. It is an amazing piece of work, surely bound to become a timeless and unforgetable classic for those who listen to it.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_renfro_m.htm

Nicholas Szczepanik - Iomicin
Judging from "Iomicin", mr. Szczepanik definitely is a creative individual and goes about his music in a unique way that keeps you guessing and keeps things interesting.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nicholasszczepanik_i.htm

V/A - Rückwärts Im Uhrzeigersinn
With sixteen exciting, genre-bending, atom-splitting cuts of the juiciest contemporary electronica this is a fairly laidback release overall but everything is just so damn listenable, you can easily forgive the artists for not kick-drum-blasting your eardrums out of the sides of your head.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_riu.htm

Kiethevez - Non-Binary
"Non-Binary" offers up eleven tracks of quality synthpop the likes of which the Swedes seem to be born to write, with no confusion about meaning or intent. A very accomplished and mature sounding record, where the years of experience are evident in the skilful combination of subtle synth work, considered guitar playing and clean, melodic singing.

Reviews

Tapage - The Institute Of Random Events
While there are a lot of events in each track, there's an enchanting minimal feel to the whole album.  If you've been awake for too long, and require an album to help you think while you slowly pass out from exhaustion on your ugly couch - this is it! Or, if you wanted Hecq to do an album with breaks and click/pops, this might be as close as it gets.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_tapage_tiore.htm

Angelspit - Blood Death Ivory
Angelspit's highly visual methodology makes them stand out and, watered-down anarchic attitude notwithstanding, their music is not bad by any means. It's a lot of fun, something far too many bands overlook in their efforts to be 'dark'. The production quality is top-notch, too, and the lyrics, while not Shakespeare, carry a great sense of apathetic urban disillusionment.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_angelspit_bdi.htm

STROM.ec - Divine Legions Beyond Psyche
In conclusion, STROM.ec show effortlessly how they can make harsh and aggressive power electronics as effectively as you want, but the important thing is how well they mix that up with dark ambient and experimental industrial passages, trying new ideas and never allowing things to become formulaic or stagnate.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_stromec_dlbp.htm

Murder By Static - Exsits
Though an enjoyable listen, this album could perhaps benefit from extended track lengths and more events would give each song more character. As IDM it's somewhat enjoyable, but it seems to incorporate the most boring aspects from other (sub?)genres of electronic music.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_murderbystatic_e.htm

ReAdjust - Statement
The main downfall of the album seemed to be a lack of good production/mastering. A stronger snare/clap could have really improved the sound of a few tracks, and all the sounds seemed to get lost in the mix. Remember one lesson that can be taken from cheesy-trance: even if the music is overdone and cliché, if it is produced well, the kids will love it.

Connexion Bizarre update 20081013 « Réponse #36 le: octobre 16, 2008, 15:28:53 pm »
Connexion Bizarre ( http://www.connexionbizarre.net/ ) was updated on October 13th, 2008. New reviews, webcasts, instalment of "Business Traveller" and recommended links. For those of you wondering about the upcoming releases under the "C.B. netlabel" banner, some of it is a bit delayed at the moment but it'll definitely be worth the wait (oh yes it will...). Reviews

Mono-Amine - Industrial Thought Patterns
Not since Converter's legendary "Blast Furnace" have I felt quite as happy with my rivethead status. This is, without a doubt, some of the finest industrial/powernoise it has been my pleasure to listen to in a long time.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_monoamine_itp.htm">Read more

AZ-Rotator - Indefinable Sugar Cube
"Indefinable Sugar Cube" can be a difficult album to get into initially and is not the best introduction to AZ-Rotator's work for the first-time listener. Nevertheless, it is an excellent piece of work and bound to please those who appreciate well-produced, complex IDM and abstract electronica with a playful twist.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_azrotator_isc.htm">Read more

Integral - Rise
"Rise" is definitely an album that's been highly refined, with amazing production quality, and various parts have been worked on for a long time. Aside from a few regressive tendencies, it's an amazing release.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_integral_r.htm">Read more

Oszillotom - Energetika
Oszillotom create music that is deep, distorted and chaotic but do so in a perfectly calculated way that results in a collection of superbly realised tracks.  Showcasing a range of styles from tense, dark ambient through to heavy multi-layered drones and visiting several points between the two extremes, Oszillotom show there is more to their music than wonderfully executed industrial noise.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_oszillotom_e.htm">Read more

Myrrman - PorNOsmagoria
It's a malicious, unpleasant record, likely to scare away most listeners - unless you happen to like the foot-cramping vertigo that comes with an unwilling paradigm shift. For me, personally, it was wonderful, original mood music to accompany my lengthy commutes to and from work, inspiring all sorts of antisocial mental meandering...
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_myrrman_p.htm">Read more

C/A/T - The Great Crisis
"The Great Crisis" is both a simple machine and the maddening administrator of melodic crunch.  While the classic C/A/T sound is still present, overall, this new album tends to sound a touch more refined than previous releases.

Interviews

Mike Morton - Displacer: Mortal Man, or Coronel?
An informative interview with Mike Morton, shining light on the origins of Displacer, his sound gear addiction as well as his penchant for horror movies, pilaging vintage synths from music stores during riots and making music in general.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_displacer2008.htm

Reviews

Autoclav1.1 - Love No Longer Lives Here
Catharsis junkies, be advised, this is your one-way ticket exiting Purgatory. The music is spacious and panoramic, richly layered and complex, and always reminds its listener of progression and increase and denouement. Unfolding casually, the album soon climbs into a thing nakedly beautiful and kinetic, tangible in its raw intimacy.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_autoclav11_lnllh.htm

Mort Douce - Locust Dreams
Mort Douce creates a very nice combination of drones and ambient, and the high quality of the tracks are a mere indication of why it took him five years to finish this album.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_mortdouce_ld.htm

Moogulator - The Digital Anatomist Project
On first listen, this album may well be a disconcerting experience, especially for those who are not familiar with fractured rhythmic structures, glitch and seemingly random sound compositions. "The Digital Anatomist Project" is not an easy album to get into but it has definite moments of brilliance which could have been further explored.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_moogulator_dap.htm

Babylone Chaos/Lambwool/Le Diktat - Shi
A decent album, not brilliant but with flashes of something fantastic here and there. The amalgamations of these artists together fuse some very interesting pieces indeed, but none quite match the individuality of Lambwool and Le Diktat on their own, which is a shame.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_shi.htm

HIV+/Babylone Chaos - Split
The music isn't what sells this EP - the artwork, the artists' names and, ultimately, the exclusivity of the item unfortunately overshadow the very powerful moods portrayed within the very well constructed sounds delivered by two extremely capable established industrial acts.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_split.htm

Not Half - Radioactive Monster Cats From Planet XLG-5
A pointless C-division album that will get lost in a scene where there is such high quality control amongst its upper echelons.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nothalf_rmcfpx.htm

Soman - Mask
All of the songs here shamelessly flaunt the techno blueprint so many have worked from. Each track offers nothing more than simple, mindless Electronic Body Music that will keep your head nodding, whether to the repetitive beats and yawn-worthy synth patterns, or in an effort to keep yourself from falling asleep.

Reviews

Displacer - The Witching Hour
Brace yourself for a hair-raising, ultra-chill experience. Oxymoronic, without doubt, but apt all the same when describing Morton's latest tour de force, "The Witching Hour." Listen to "The Witching Hour" past midnight, if you dare, but keep careful watch on the shadows, and be sure to glance behind once in a while...
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_displacer_wh.htm

Fin de Siécle - Nine Barns
This is an engaging release no less of European sounding cinematic music, that is as strange as it gets. Organic instrumentation takes form with the prominent use of violins alongside guitars, female vocals, piano and analogue delay, and adds to the overall raw feel to the release and it's a welcome one at that.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_findesiecle_nb.htm

Bramble - Emergence
"Emergence", if we are to believe the press surrounding this disc is the result of vocal sound manipulations and nothing more.  If this truly is the case then this has been done extremely well as the drones and sub-dark ambient sounds could easily have come from more conventional synthesizer sources.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_bramble_e.htm

Nwodtlem - Video πR8
"πR8" is a pretty interesting selection and it is good to see something relatively artistic being made with breakcore, as the genre does tend to be a bit silly and not massively creative - but this has proven to me that breakcore can be artsy and silly all at the same time.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nwodtlem_vp.htm

Xentrifuge - Light Extinguished
"Light Extinguished" has girth, drive, and pure adrenaline that successfully injects a much-needed classic Industrial sound back into the harsh EBM genre. This should appeal to fans of Tactical Sekt and notable fellow newcomers such as Wynardtage and Acylum.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_xentrifuge_le.htm

Mathieu Ruhlmann - The Earth Grows In Each Of Us
The theme of regeneration of the life cycle was the main inspiration for this new album, contrasted against the ever present threat of death as his sister narrowly survived a serious road accident. A very pleasant listen at bedtime then, but slightly frustrating to the listener demanding more happenings and variation.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_mathieuruhlmann_tegieou.htm

Vladislav Buben - Prayers Of Steel - Prologue
A lot of the time when passed a purely experimental CD I grit my teeth.  There is a hell of a lot of experimental 'music' out there that I appreciate and a hell of a lot I simply deem as 'artistic masturbation', being very polite.  Buben come dangerously close to the latter.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_vladislavbuben_posp.htm

V/A - A Weevil In A Biscuit
Overall though "Weevil in a Biscuit" just leaves you feeling a little disappointed and unsatisfied, regardless of the really great tracks. Here's hoping Bearsuit Records focus on the really great material and get some more releases out by those artists, rather than album length releases that are mostly stuffed with fillers.

Thomas P. - Le Diktat
Nourished with references from the spheres of music (industrial, hip-hop, ambient, noise), politics and visual arts, the politically-charged music of French duo Le Diktat is once again in the spotlight with the release of a second album, inspired by the neo-Luddite movement and the life of American terrorist Theodore Kaczinski.

"Morphogenesis" is a technical term used by biologists to describe the set up of a lifeform's structure, the beginning of its arrangement. Through this record, Pierrick Coupé wanted to recreate a similar process to combine lots of various elements into a coherent whole - and did so very succesfully.

V/A - Fabriksampler v2
It is rare to find a compilation like this, one that flows so seamlessly and sounds so organic and coherent, gently but effortlessly grabbing the listener's attention from the beginning without any degree of intrusiveness - effectively going beyond the basic premise of a label sampler.

Baxter Lilly - Unsichtbare Flecken
Despite initial misgivings, Baxter Lilly tends to ingratiate itself with repeated listening, eventually becoming a welcome change of pace. Sadly, in today's disposal society, even in the underground fringes thereof, your average consumer may not be willing to devote the required time and effort to the album to discover its finer points.

[:SITD:] - Bestie:Mensch
Overall, Bestie:Mensch is a very strong Electro record that not only shows purpose and progress for an already fantastic band, but should also lure in many new listeners as word gets out about this album.

Accomplice Affair - Jezioro Wspomnien
In summation, Accomplice Affair is the Michael Bolton of dark ambient, the sonic equivalent of British food, like lukewarm softcore porn. Indistinctive grub is better than starving, however, and softcore will do the job on cold winter nights.

Interviews

Pierrick C. - Mind Necrosis Factor
In his second LP, Mind Necrosis factor combines acoustic elements and piercing rhythms, tribal cries and post-industrial atmospheres. More than genesis of a new shape, this album traces the emergence of a mind, from the obscurity of the first moments to the cessation of pain. It invites the listener to look beyond the flesh and to feel the breath of the hidden self.

Reviews

Disharmony - Cloned - Other Side Of Evolution
With "Cloned - Other Side of Evolution", Disharmony has proven that remix albums can add a whole new lease of life to tracks, and create something entirely different in the process.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_disharmony_cosoe.htm

15 Degrees Below Zero - New Travel
15 Degrees Below Zero take hold of the territory between droning ambiance and noise and meshes it together quite well and in a very pleasing way, while puting their own unique slant on the styles of music they incorporate.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_15dbz_nt.htm

Matamachete - Tanin No Kao
Matamachete define their music as a mix between punk, drum 'n' bass and industrial. One could easily be lead to believe that Matamachete is just another one of these digital punk, Atari Teenage Riot wanna-be bands which are often described this way. In this case, just listen and you'll quickly find out that you were wrong...
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_matamachete_tnk.htm

Orchestramaxfieldparrish - The Silent Breath of Emptiness
Listening to "The Silent Breath of Emptiness" it is amazing to think that it was recorded live as it was performed and in a single take as music of this type is often carefully orchestrated in a studio using layering techniques and all manner of electronic effects and gadgets.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_orchestramaxfieldparrish_sboe.htm

Worms Of The Earth - The Angels Of Prostitution
"The Angels of Prostitution" is an expression of what is still left to be explored within electronic music today and an imprint which should leave a notable reverberation within those that are paying attention.   If this album is a harbinger of things to come for Worms of the Earth, I'm sticking around to find out what happens next.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_wormsoftheearth_aop.htm

Voice_Electronic Duo - VED
Something like experimental pop, wherein jazz elements, electronic loops and curious vocal manipulations stimulate compositions both expansive in their progression and crystalline in their clarity. There are hints of Portishead here, along with facets of Lali Puna, Télépopmusik and Zero 7, though altogether none of these resemblances offer a precise comparison.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_voiceelectronicduo_ved.htm

Phallus Über Alles - Les Femmes De La Guerre
Globally, "Les Femmes de la Guerre" is a pretty well-produced EP, but isn't really enough to satisfy those of us who are waiting for a Phallus Über Alles new album since a while. Let me get this straight: this record isn't going to renew the genre, but without a doubt it's gonna kick some ass.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_phallusuberalles_fdlg.htm

V/A - C:\]_THOMAR
It's not a bad compilation if you've got your 80's head on but fancy a modern twist on it, with some interesting twists in direction from Euthymia and Zentex. Not going to grab much attention from those who aren't familiar with the label already, but it's an interesting introduction none the less.
http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_thomar.htm

Himiko - Himiko
What is most difficult to reconcile about this album is its apparent emptiness, an impoverishment of craft that occurs despite its passionate methodology, DYI punk sensibilities and creative improvisation. "Himiko" challenges only the senses, as it batters them to porridge. But maybe that's the point?

Ça depende de ce que on achéte (on a tous nos preferences) ou de ce que on nos envoye. D'ou l'existance d'une equipe de 'webcasters' en rotation et des invités tous les mois.
