Newworldaquarium (NWAQ, Delsin, Planet E - NL)

Newworldaquarium has a history of quality electronic music. Starting out on the legendary Dutch label Eevo Lute, various projects for Peacefrog and Delsin soon followed. With Jochem Peteri it's all about the groove, not the composition. Grooves that go on endlessly, grooves that slowly change colour and shape and sneak their way into your head. In 2008 he released his album 'The Dead Bears', which received massive reactions from top dj/producers till respected journalists. Expect some deep techno & house affairs.

Tin Man (Global A Record, Keys Of Life - USA)

Of Finnish descent, but born and raised in California, TIN MAN now has a home in Vienna, a town perfectly suited to his deep and moody productions. TIN MAN launched his Global A label project in 2005. The first two releases, 'Places' and 'Acid Acid', weighed in at three pieces of vinyl each, and showcased his two major musical passions: fragile deep electronica and acid house. TIN MAN has acclaimed releases on the Finnish record label Sähkö / Keys of Life, Cheap Records from Vienna, and continues with new releases on his own imprint, Global A . While TIN MAN's output is diverse in its references, certain underpinnings can be heard throughout. There is always a strong reference to Acid House music, as well as a strong reference to Ambient and Electronic Pop music from the past 30 years. TIN MAN's newer output features his voice and follows a "concept album" format. Thus, complete records are as important as individual songs. The songs tend to follow a simple structure with changes that grow slowly within motifs. Mood construction and story telling are both equally important. And with each new record, there are new historical references to tell different stories. TIN MAN also continues with his passion for Acid House by continuing to produce retro-acid tracks and playing live shows regularly. These live shows celebrate early house music, its hypnotic charm, and its blissful raw energy.

Roger23 (Swayzak Soundsystem, Playhouse - Ger)

Paired with a mountainous knowledge of music and innate sensibility for hypnotizing people under his electronic spell, world renowned DJ, producer and musical magician Roger23, descends upon Saarbrucken.
Mixing electro, house, techno and futuristic ear candy. His style and rhythm have catapulted him to play at many of the major clubs and cities throughout Europe including Berlin, Paris, Istanbul & London. Sophisticated, spontaneous, energetic and dropping a beat so sick your hips will have the flu. His magic wand is ready, yet again, to transform the dance floor into an intergalactic musical adventure. All you need is your spacesuits and soon you'll be dancing on the surface of the moon. Joost de Lijser (Surreal Sound, Nature Records - BE)

Joost de Lyser started dj-ing acid, house & techno in 1987 at age 16, in local clubs near where he was born, in the most southwest corner of the Netherlands. Soon he found his way to the decks of clubs and parties in the cities across the water in the dutch province of Zeeland, but also across the border in Belgium. In 1990, Joost moved to Tilburg in the Netherlands to study, where he became involved in the Dutch Techno scene on a more national level, but he still spent most of his free weekends in Belgian Clubs...
In 1994 Joost started to play on the parties of the notorious Brussels underground techno party scene, and about simultaneously he was asked to be part of the Fuse DJ team, for the club'As first season. In 1995, Brussels 2nd Techno club was born: the Network. Joost moved to Brussels & joined the Network DJ team alongside dj'As Deg, Psychogene & Unit-E, and there the new-electro element in his sets started to dominate the techno side. The very last Network night was at the same time Brussels, and likely Belgium'As very first new-electro only party (without techno). After the Network ended, Joost found new musical outlets in the Cybertheatre & at his own Nexus nights, pushing Electro to the Brussels party scene.
In 1998, Joost hooked up with DJ Uriel, and became resident for his now legendary Enjoy Apocalypse electro nights, where Joost still continues to play as guest. Shortly after he also became resident for the Klangforschung Ost parties in Eupen, and as one of Belgiums first Electro DJ'As, Joost has played for most Electro party organizations in the country, as well as on most big events with an electro room.
Currently Joost plays at the Fuse again as resident for their "Plug" electro nights, as well as for many party organizations & events, as guest or headliner. He releases music under the name Disturbot for labels like Nature & Roulette Rekordz.
Musically he has teamed up with Maarten van der Vleuten (Flux) and Interzone, as well as some solo projects such as "Disturbot".
Founder of now defunct Netherlands based label Weird Dream.

Les nouveautés de la musique libre / Rüts DVD [meakusma & ampoule]
« le: février 02, 2009, 22:26:21 pm »
After the three ruets vinyl mini compilations, comes the first meakusma DVD. True to the collective's spirit, it functions as a mini-compendium of established artists and debutants of whom many have already been featured on the vinyl releases.
23 tracks by Move D & Benjamin Brunn, Kate Simko, Pub, Subjex, Terrence Dixon, Herrmutt Lobby, Roger 23, Kinora Viewer, Roebin de Freitas, Peter Van Hoesen, Immer.Chic Trifonic, Rony & Suzy,... get a visual interpretation by, amongst others, man vs magnet, Chris Parks, Defasten, Kris Clijsters, Les agents Myop, Scott Pagano, institut Goetze, Humanstudio, ego, miH, Ewo, Dirk Ignoul...
The visual contributions range in style from more straightforward digital visual design to cut-up pieces to short movies, whilst still having a distinctly understated feel. Trying to establish networks between musicians and visual artists, the results are often subtly surprising. The visual artists have been given total freedom in the development of their pieces and in their interpretation of the music.
Created with the kind help of the Youth Education & Culture project and compiled together with the Ampoule collective from Scotland, meakusma has chosen quality over shock effect.
As bonus you can drag & drop all tracks as wav-files them to your hard drive. The record is distributed by several distributors and can be found in selected physical and digital recordshops around the world, on the ampoule website  and in our own webshop.
More info and individual snippets can be found here

Surgeon

www.dj-surgeon.com

Is there anything we need to say about this person?!
His production, remix, and DJ repertoire are inspired by industrial music bands such as Faust, Coil and Whitehouse.
Collaborations with Mick Harris or Regis and remixes for Matmos, Scorn, Thom Yorke, Monolake, Scion - to name just a few - make him the be one the most prolific artists in the whole electronic dance music scene.
Contemporary Surgeon heavy electronica-techno-dubstep-sets have been notable for experimentation with new DJ technologies, blurring the line between a DJ set and a live performance.

Info about his mix project released on Warp Records in October 2007 here

Or check another excellent electronica-techno-dubstep mix on spannered radio

MMM

www.zentrale-mmm.de
www.myspace.com/zentralemmm

MMM is the collaborative project of Fiedel and Errorsmith, who is also part of Smith n Hack. Associated with the legendary Hardwax record store in Berlin, the two guys have been producing disco, funk and techno influenced club music since for over 10 years now and
with Donna and MMM1 have released without doubt two of the most definitive dancefloor twelves ever.
Now MMM is reactivated - a new live set is ready, containing some new tracks, that is waiting to get released!

Some snippets are available here or here

Omen Jots

www.ampoulerecords.com

Omen Jots is the more twisted, hardcore-acidfunk-lunacy-for-the-dancefloor site of Ampoule founder Pub, also know as Lucky & Easy or Moped Endo.
The tracks are tough as nails and hark back to a heavy, grungy Techno sound - militant, distorted beat and weird analogue sound tweaks... almost acidic, but not quite.
Cracking 4/4 beat and big, bold, brassy sounds that cut into the mix. Think along the lines of Aphex's 'Quoth' but with a more mechanical feel and you're getting there.

Check some snippets on Pub's fanpage on myspace here

Rustie, the wee man behind the Jagz the Smack EP – one of the hottest bastard offspring of hip-hop, grime and techno releases of 2007. Released on Stuffrecords and sold out instantly! Bass fuelled aquacrunkstep mentalism that’s gonna rock your bedrooms and parties. Bigged up by nearly everyone from Neil Landstrumm, Modeselektor or Flying Lotus.
Keep an eye out for two new EP's on Stuffrecords featuring US mc's Buddy

Heaviest basslines imaginable, clever edits, complete with shards of metallic percussion and keeping the swing so tight you just couldn’t fail to be moved by its wonky wares.

A stalwart of the UK electronic music scene since 1994, Neil Landstrumm
has released work on many of the most recognised labels in the industry. He
steers his way through 2007 with refreshing abandon and a new LP released late
Spring on Planet Mu records called “Restaurant of Assassins”. With the
heaviest subs this side of Chapeltown, Landstrumm seeks new lows with the
new LP bringing together classic UK techno vibes and modern dubstep with a
refreshed rave sensibility. Undeniably proud of the UK’s heritage in
electronic music and clearly passionate about the influences in his
musical output, Landstrumm has a talent for bringing it all together in unusual
and creative packages.
It's live hardware electronics at it's very best.

Appeared on the music market with his first 12“ on Sonig called
„Plastic/Metal“ in 1999. This 12“ is part of the music revolution that
Matmos and Dr. Rockit made to dance music introducing „concrete“ sounds to
the beats. After this Wang Inc.has made 2 albums: the first on Bip-Hop and
the second on Context.fm. Working with Context has brought him back to his
first love: dance music with lots of experiments. Now as well as his Techno –
productions Wang Inc. plays in the rock band „Ende“ and collaborates with
many artists around the world doing improvised work. He also works for
multimedia projects making interactive soundscapes and music for audio visual
products.

Suzi Wong

www.djsuziwong.com
www.myspace.com/djsuziwong

WMF, Tresor, Maria or E-Werk, you name it – Suzi has played em all and
rocked the crowds with her irresistible mix that melts Techno, Electro, House, and some rough sounds into one.  She also enjoys a good reputation beyond Berlins boundaries, partly due to her recent tours with Juan Atkins & Blake Baxter, RJD2 and Andrea Parker that led her through all major German cities. In addition to all the DJ-ing, she proves her musical versatility in her own nationwide radio show, since 2004. Suzis sets are dominated by her innovative and eclectic selection, a high level of energy, liveliness, an instinct for the moment and her empathy for the audience. Take this quote from her colleague Andrea Parker: “You cant go wrong with Suzi Wong!”

Lukid

www.werk-it.com
www.myspace.com/lukid

This young and very talented man from South London makes the kind of Rubik's cube compositions that twist in a broad spectrum of elements to create hip-hop founded electronics that relish the use of dust-encrusted loops, lazer-tag beats and sea-sick rhythms. Sounding like the awkward teenage son of a civil partnership between Dabrye, Theo Parrish and Autechre, he produces tracks which are mature, complex and (most importantly) a damn good listen.
His very original and authentic style earned Lukid an album contract with Werkdiscs where he released “an instrumental Magnus Opus of Messianic Proportions” named ONANDON.

Actress

Actress is the head of A&R at Werk records, a non genre-specific guerilla record label of weird squonky electronic dance music. A freestyle collective of party goers and knob-twiddlers that make a mockery of everything they’ve ever been taught about cool. At the meakusma event Actress will play the warm-up DJ set which will lead you perfectly to the live performance of Lukid. Be there - early!

Matmos

www.brainwashed.com/matmos
www.matadorrecords.com/matmos

Matmos is M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel, aided and abetted by many others. In
their recordings and live performances over the last nine years, Matmos have
used the sounds of: amplified crayfish nerve tissue, the pages of bibles
turning, a bowed five string banjo, slowed down whistles and kisses, water
hitting copper plates, the runout groove of a vinyl record, a $5.00 electric
guitar, liposuction surgery, cameras and VCRs, chin implant surgery, contact
microphones on human hair, violins, rat cages, tanks of helium, violas, human
skulls, cellos, peck horns, tubas, cards shuffling, field recordings of
conversations in hot tubs, frequency response tests for defective hearing aids,
a steel guitar recorded in a sewer, electrical interference generated by laser
eye surgery, whoopee cushions and balloons, latex fetish clothing, rhinestones
on a dinner plate, Polish trains, insects, ukelele, aspirin tablets hitting a
drum kit from across the room, dogs barking, people reading aloud, life support
systems and inflatable blankets, records chosen by the roll of dice, an
acupuncture point detector conducting electrical current through human skin,
rock salt crunching underfoot, solid gold coins spinning on bars of solid
silver, the sound of a frozen stream thawing in the sun, a five gallon bucket
of oatmeal.
Matmos’s latest album “The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of A Beast” is a series
of "sound portraits" of a pantheon of people that they admire. It is at once
Matmos’s most melodic and most conceptual record. They will perform this album
live together with 5 guest musicians on their European tour.

Dabrye

www.dabrye.com
www.ghostly.com

Under his many aliases, i.e. Dabrye, James T. Cotton, SK-1, etc., Tadd Mullinix
has created his own world of unique sounds, from hip-hop to acid techno to
abstract electronics.
Dabrye is just one alias, who shifts through various guises with remarkable
competency and sophistication. As Dabrye, Mullinix explores hip-hop, creating
head-nodding beats with bass lines that reference jazz and electro in equal
measure. It is a combination that has earned considerable praise from both the
hip-hop underground (Jay Dee, Jurassic 5) and the electronic music press.
His new album Two/Three, also feature appearances by Doom (on the "Air" single),
Beans, Waajeed, Vast Aire, Wildchild, Guilty Simpson and many others. The album
was released in June 2006, and the tour is followed by MC Kadence.

Uské Orchestra

www.uskeorchestra.be
www.ambivalence.be/uske/

“Niko Et La Berlue” the last album from Brussels’ Uské Orchestra's is indeed a
mixture of styles, but not in the avant-garde sense.
For here pop music styles are not referenced, wildly combined and rendered
ridiculous. No, this band rather assembles and stacks microscopic bits from all
possible genres and styles to build teeming musical market places. Uské
Orchestra shows a preference for acoustic sounds, recorded as is. Within
seconds they change the mood, the instrument, the timbre and the arrangement.
If there was ever an award for devious sound design, Uské Orchestra would be
the clear winner.
Just imagine the sound track to The Matrix, performed by a hyperactive brass
band from the Balkans or Mexico.

Lithops

Lithops is the solo guise of Jan St. Werner, known to most as half of popular Köln/Düsseldorf-based duo Mouse on Mars. Also a member of abstract ambient outfit Microstoria, St. Werner tends toward middle ground with his Lithops material, fusing the smooth digital weirdness of Microstoria with the smudgy, off-kilter beats and warm, imperfect textures of Mouse on Mars releases such as Instrumentals and Glam. Lithops tracks rub the outer edges of inferential electronics, and often sound as though they began their lives as happy little studio accidents, all fumbly, peripatetic rhythms emerging from a haze of muffled bass and overdriving synth textures. Although St. Werner's first Lithops tracks trace only to 1995, a flood of material quickly appeared, beginning with the two-track "Wackler/Khan" 12-inch, issued by tiny Köln-based imprint Eat Raw, and shifting into high gear with a pair of full-lengths released in 1998. St. Werner and MoM partner Andi Toma's vinyl-only Sonig label issued the first of those -- the drab, gauzy Uni Umit -- in early 1998, while the Eat Raw's LP Didot followed only months later. Although it didn't receive quite the initial distribution push of Sonig's first release -- MoM's excellent Instrumentals LP, reissued stateside by Thrill Jockey -- Uni Umit was equally as splendid, wrapping thick, organic textures around sparse rhythms, bizarre electronics, and thick, strapping, resonant bass. (The album got a stateside CD reissue in 1998, via Jim O'Rourke's Moikai label.) Didot, for its part, was slightly better-produced and rhythmically further flung than its predecessor, but both satisfy to a more or less equal degree. An additional 1998 release came in the form of the "Turbino" 7-inch, released by the otherwise unrelated Static Caravan label. Another single "Sequenced Twinset" appeared in 1999, and four years later, Lithops returned with third album Scrypt, released through Thrill Jockey.

Ark

Ark is the artist who first brought the minimal style to many French. As soon as 1997 he issues on the Brif label "Siderurgie esthétique" and "De derrière les fagots", two EPs which were not much of a great success... It's logical, Ark is a precurssor, always light years ahead of his time.

But he doesn't loose faith in his craft for that, and collaborates in 1999 with Herbert (UK) and Losoul (GER) on "Belle lurette". Everyone got skeptic listening to this new music and yet, as today Losoul or Herbert have became stars of the genre, they discover the sound of Ark!

Ark doesn't begin his career at that moment. He first plays guitar in an 80's funk band and then starts with the heavily talented Pépé Bradock the band Trankilou . Remember, "Saint Glin-Glin" and especially "Escalope de dingue" which became an interplanetary hit. After that, he unexplicably misses the jackpot with "Le magicien d'os", its funky as hell & hypnotic chant ("I like the way your booty shake, ah, ah") and its monstrous remixes.

Ark has now joined forces with french fellow artist Cabanne as Copacabannark (on Perlon); he also issued an album as Shalark (Ark with Shalom) in 2001 and even manages to find the time to pursue his solo career, with the release of an EP on the prestigious Playhouse label (GER), as well as a LP/CD compilation entitled " Alleluyark " on the french label Circus Company. Two new tracks will also be available soon on the Katapult "Various Artists" upcoming compilation, as well as a few exclusives on the next T.I.M.E.C. releases, the parisian label with a twist which gracefully helped him with the site web you're now visiting...

His live sets always include stupendous and now famous surprises. The public of the Pulp in Paris won't forget anyime soon his incredible energy-fuelled mixes from reggae to hardcore with Mr. Oizo , Feadz or Herbert. He's also been heard at the Rex, the Batofar, the Scene, the New Casino in Paris or the Panorama Bar from Berlin. When he plays, his hair get moving all around, his body is a prisoner of the beat, he becomes the most beautiful man in the world... and the most unforeseeable.

Errorsmith

Errorsmith is deeply rooted in club orientated electronic music and the club is an important reference in both his solo and collaborative work. Nevertheless his work is also very much based on research into new forms of digital sound synthesis. The club references are reduced to the core elements, while the sound develops mainly through advanced realtime manipulations. Errorsmith builds his own instruments using a modular software synthesizer. In fact building and improving the instrument while developing a musical piece is the main part of music making. Not positioning itself in a specific genre, Errorsmith's music has its own unique characteristics and is located somewhere in the no man’s land between so called serious and popular music.

Errorsmith is one half of the projects called mmm and Smith N Hack (a collaboration with Soundhack) which have released some highly acclaimed and influential clubmusic 12"'s over the last few years. He also collaborates with New York based DJ and producer I-Sound as Disco Consultant on I-Sound's label Transparent. By the way, in 2000 Errorsmith received a special mention on “Prix Ars Electronica” and in 2005 he was tour support of Autechre in Berlin.

Dj Elephant Power

Dj Elephant Power creates electronic music, composing from his instinctive relation with musical instruments (toying around with them).

Turntable battle universe passionate (check his name!), he also explores new ways of scratching with additional materials like: keyboards, waterdrums, samplerbox, dugi dugi, flutes, cha chas, laptop...
This results in a very personal musical playground.

After participating in many collaborations with Scratch Pet Land (duo band with his brother), Fan Club Orchestra (aka dj crol) and Electro Sold Collectif (impro radio show) among others, he needed something to push his energy further and made his first solo album "no si, ni so" (Sonig records) in 2004.
